Dortmund police chief Gregor Lange said the team bus was hit by three explosions as it left the team hotel for the Westfalenstadion for the first leg of the Champions League tie.

Dortmund’s Spanish defender Marc Bartra was injured in the attack and was taken to hospital.

“The team is in a shock. We must get through this. We have to get through this. There is no other way,” Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said.

The match was eventually cancelled and rescheduled for Wednesday, May 10th at 18:45 CEST.
